What is Citizens Lobby Day?
A lobby day is a day when concerned citizens get together to lobby their state senators and representatives in person (or virtually) on issues that matter to them. It can be about a bill currently in the works, an existing law, your idea for a official state pasta dish, or just a general topic that you’re passionate about.
Probably not the pasta thing, though. But you’re welcome to give it a shot if that’s what motivates you!
We will provide training to help you craft your story so that you are prepared to get your point across in a quick but powerful speech in a face-to-face meeting with the legislators from your district, or anyone else you want to talk to. They may be moved by your story, they might learn something, or… well, you know these guys. Some of them may not care at all. But one thing is for certain:
They will not be able to ignore you.
Register to participate in optional (but strongly recommended) training, to be held virtually on Friday February 13 at 7pm. Alternate training times might be available on request. This training will cover a crash course in how the legislative process works in Idaho, techniques for crafting a personal, impactful story, and advice on how to deal with your particular legislators.
We will schedule meetings for you on February 20 with the legislators from your district, or we can choose alternate legislators if you like. For instance, if you really want to go for the state pasta thing, we could figure out who the foodies are and connect you with them.
Speaking of food, lunch will be provided!
If there are multiple people from each district interested, we will schedule you together as a group. If you’re the only one going to talk to a legislator and you’re not comfortable going alone, we will have someone go along with you for support.
In person meetings are the most impactful, but Idaho is a big state. If face-to-face isn’t a good option for you, we will do our best to arrange virtual meetings for you.
So sign up below, and please reach out with any questions you may have! Use the contact form on this website or find my info down at the bottom of the page.
